Abstract

At present, 3D printing concrete is one of the trends in most of the construction works. The 3D printable concrete has good workability and reduces the requirement of skilled labours. This paper is a comparative study of a preliminary experimental investigation on 3D printing concrete using steel fibre reinforced concrete and multi-walled carbon nanotubes reinforced concrete. The workability and of traditional concrete, steel fibre reinforced concrete, and multi- walled carbon nanotubes concrete was tested as a preliminary investigation. M20 was the concrete grade used for all three types of concretes. The slump cone test followed according to ASTM C143 specifications and the flow table test followed according to ASTM C230 specifications were used to determine the workability of fresh concrete. The results for the slump were zero and the flow was in the range of 290mm to 440mm in all three types of concrete. After being cast and cured for 28 days, the cubes and the cylinders were tested for split tensile strength and compressive strength. The results obtained were recorded and compared.
